The only thing i could find online is people saying to use other fuels but i could not find a fuel that is hotter than lava. Tekxit does not contain any of the Tinkers addons, meaning lava is your only fuel. You must use Thermal Expansion in order to recycle anything a smeltery can’t melt.
As far as I can tell you are building it correctly. I read the mod book “Materials and You” for Tinkers’ Construct 1.12.2-2.10.1.87 and it mentions 11×11 (9×9 internal) being the largest size possible. Verified that 11×11 works in my game, and I’m using a mix of seared bricks and seared stone. Maybe check what your book says for max smeltery size.
