How to turn off anisotropic filtering minecraft

When I saw that anisotropic filtering was off I turned it all the way to 16 (with only a vague idea of what anisotropic filtering even was). Suddenly my FPS dropped as low as 3 in high traffic areas with lots of blocks. Anytime I try to lower it my game crashes, I let it sit for a good 45 minutes with no response.

But if you really want to turn it off, you can go to your search bar in the left under corner and type ‘%appdata%’. Then hit enter. You will now enter a ‘Roaming’ folder. From here, open ‘.minecraft’. and then ‘options.txt’. In this file, find: ‘ao: 4’ and chance it to ‘ao: 0’. That should do the trick! Then just run Minecraft and it should work
Changing the filtering level to/from 0 crashes MC instantly. Changing from, say, 2 to 4 works fine. Anti-alias also works fine.
