You are permitted to wade into Lake Nockamixon up to the knees, but caution while wading must be exercised due to the sudden dropoffs. We have had to perform several emergency rescues for near drownings of visitors attempting to swim in the lake in the past several years.

Keeping this in consideration, why is there no swimming in Lake Nockamixon?

As it rots it uses great quantities of oxygen needed for aquatic life. It stresses fish populations and also zooplankton that is the base of the food chain. Excess algae also creates odor problems which discourages swimming and reduces overall enjoyment of the lake.
