What is Swachhta?

Swachh Bharat Mission is a massive mass movement that seeks to create a Clean India by 2019. The father of our nation Mr. Mahatma Gandhi always puts the emphasis on swachhta as swachhta leads to healthy and prosperous life.

Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and institutions under it observed Swachhta Pakhwada (cleanliness fortnight) from 1st June to 15th June 2019. MNRE cleaned and repaired two public toilets near CGO Complex and these two toilets will be regularly cleaned and maintained throughout the year by the Ministry.

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (SBA) or Clean India Mission was a nation-wide campaign from 2014 to 2019 to clean up the streets, roads and infrastructure of cities, towns, and rural areas. The campaign was officially launched on 2 October 2014 at Rajghat, New Delhi by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

How I practice Swachhta in my daily life?

The ways I practice Swachhta are, disposing of garbage in a specific place where it is collected by municipality every weekend. Not using plastic packets , bottles, as they are non biodegradable. Not littering and spitting on road as this acts as an incubator for the germs and bacterias to grow.

What are the benefits of Swachh Bharat mission?

Swachh Bharat Mission will lead to Healthy India which in turn increase productivity of Indians. High productivity means High earning potential. In short we can say healthy body is directly proportional to earning potential. A healthy auto driver can work for 12 hours a day from existing 8 hours thus can earn 50% more.

Objectives of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan:
To eliminate or reduce open defecation. Open defecation is one of the main causes of deaths of thousands of children each year. Not only latrine construction, the Swachh Bharat Mission will also make an initiative of establishing an accountable mechanism of monitoring latrine use.
