Member Details. Since I’ve updated to 1.18 on my realm server, it became very laggy, and unplayable. I don’t know if this is beacuse more people are playing on realms now when minecraft just updated, or beacuse we’re just loading so many chunks in at once. In general, Minecraft lag includes the following three situations: Minecraft server lag (TPS lag), Internet connection lag (high latency/ping), and client side lag (FPS lag). Since the 1.16 update, Realms has exhibited lag that becomes so bad as to make the game practically unplayable. The problem appears to become worse as additional players join. Mine carts on powered rails slow down, their position updating as slowly as once every two seconds.
I believe that Minecraft Realms is hosted on a network of nodes, and the trial is always hosted on a set node, which is why it’s so laggy. When you buy a realm, it’s hosted on the node closest to the owner to ensure the lowest ping/lag possible. Hope this helps!
